Social media. That’s one of those words that you hear a lot these days. There are all kinds of different apps and services that help us connect to one another. Businesses are taking advantage of this. Whether they are using facebook, twitter, instagram, or some new upcoming app there is something successful campaigns do. That is building community!
It’s about relationships.
Let’s say you were in another state. You have no friends. You want friends, but you never leave your little bubble. You stay at home and that’s about it. You’re friend count will probably not grow much higher than ZERO unless you get you a cat or a few cats. You are being anti-social, and well no one even knows you exist. It’s not that they don’t want to be your friend, it’s that they don’t even know you are there! So here is our philosophy:
Make some noise!
Your audience needs to see you and they need to know you see them. Participate in this virtual world that is the internet. Share content your audience wants to see and respond to their feedback. Tell them thank you, and be patient. Each member of the community is important. If you only have one fan, then love that fan because that’s one more person excited about what you’re doing.
Build a Community
There is something powerful about bringing people together. When people come together they join with commonalities. They fight for a cause. They embrace a common idea. A commonality of any sort whether that is a brand, activity, or belief. Our goal is to help you figure out how you can build a community, and help you figure out it’s worth your time. Let’s face it, it’s hard to build a community on just anything. Sometimes its local, and others it’s global. Sometimes you just don’t need to build a community.
Here’s an example. The community Modest Byte is building is composed of only a few clients. Facebook isn’t of super importance to me. The community the Dwayne Parton is building is composed of friends, family, and fans(for lack of a better word). People are watching Dwayne Parton the person, and could care less about Modest Byte. So I’m Dwayne Parton, and that’s where I invest my social interest.
